About
Hi! I’m Paige. Welcome to Reasons to Come Home.
First and foremost, the Sloans are madly in love with Jesus and we’ve been blessed with the opportunity to travel the world and share God’s mercy and grace. Honestly, anything beyond that isn’t important but just in case you want to know a little more…
Cory and I were born and raised in the upstate of South Carolina. We met when I was a senior in high school and we both worked for my Dad. Cory’s hair was past his shoulders and I quickly fell in love with his free spirit and crystal blue eyes.
We both graduated from Clemson University, got married and established our roots in the same small town we grew up in.
We complete each other. Everything I’m not, he is. I’m worrier and a planner and like schedules and some may even say “wound a little tight” but he doesn’t worry about anything, would rather just go with the flow and is the most laid back person I’ve ever met.
I’m a former college cheerleader turned into a working, wanna-be housewife who loves decorating our home, most things DIY and planning and hosting parties.
Cory refers to himself as a “Southern nerd” and loves all things Ninja Turtles. On top of his 9-5 job, he is the director of Barnabas X, a non-profit ministry that allows us to travel around the world, ministering to missionaries and pastors in the field.
In January of 2015, we added Charley {the one in the sweater and pearls} to our crazy clan and like most dogs, she loves playing with her brothers Einstein and Hampton. They enjoy being outside, scaring off the cats in our neighborhood and lots of snuggles.
In July of 2016, God gave us our sweetest blessing yet and we brought Miss Baker Bea into this world!
We live an incredibly busy life but we’re a money saving, God fearing, Tiger cheering, Rwanda loving couple just trying to get through this life so we can spend eternity with Him.
Why Reasons to Come Home?
The first dance song at our wedding was ‘You’re the Reason I Come Home’ by Ron Pope. My favorite line says “You’re the reason that when everything I know falls apart, you’re the reason I come home”; this could not be more fitting for my family. No matter what kind of day I’ve had-good or bad, everything feels complete when I’m home. There is no other place than my home, with my little family, that I’d rather end each day at. They are the reason I come home.
And this blog is simply a journal of our lives together- making our house a home, traveling all over the world, and wrangling a wild toddler. I’m not the best housewife so you won’t find many recipes or house cleaning tips {unless they’re from Cory} but I hope you’ll come along to see where God takes on this exciting journey.
