Routines and Weekend Recap

Hello, routine! Nice of you to finally catch back up with me after five weeks.

Yesterday morning was a wake up call and a fast snap back into reality. Before I got sick and had to spend a week at home in my pj’s, Cory was on night shift and was home in the mornings.

If you know me, you know I’m always running late and man, was it nice to have Cory home to do everything I didn’t have time to do like make my lunch and feed the dogs.

Well Cory went back on day shift last week and needless to say, I left yesterday without a lunch.

On top of all that, I don’t normally work on Mondays but apparently it got crazy busy last week while I was out and they needed to me come in and help them get caught up.

They weren’t lying either. It has been a bit ridiculous the past two days and I’ve still got two days worth of work left on my desk.

Anyway…after a long week at home laid up on the couch, I had to a slam packed weekend to make up for it.

A few weeks ago, I told Jessica I would do some invitations for a bridal shower she is throwing and spent most of the day Thursday and Friday getting them done. I had kinda forgot I said I would do them but it all worked out because by the end of the week, I was looking for something to do while watching “One Tree Hill”.  I love the way they turned out and they just might be my favorite invitations I’ve ever done.

Friday night {after a full week}, I finally felt good enough to dry my hair, slap on some makeup and put on real clothes. Cory was dying to see the new Thor movie so we called up our friends Keisha and Thad and had a double date for dinner and a movie. Let me just say, I always enjoy spending time with the Barnes’. It was a fun night, with lots of giggles and drooling over Chris Hemsworth and Keisha and I didn’t half mind it either.

I kid, I kid.

After the movie, I found Cory asleep on the couch. I’m not even sure how someone can sleep like that but he was knocked out.

Saturday morning we got up and headed to Greenville. We don’t make it there too often so when we go, we try to squeeze everything in. I needed supplies from Garden Ridge for some Christmas wreaths I’m making and the Hobby Lobby in Greenville is much better so we headed there after we left Garden Ridge. Those two stores pretty much covered what I “needed” and the rest of the day was just shopping around for stuff I wanted. I was hoping to find some Christmas decorations at Home Goods but was pretty disappointed with their selection so I headed to Ulta to get my brows done.

I’m not even kidding when I say that I startled myself when I looked in the mirror putting on my makeup Friday. My brows were bad before I got sick than I didn’t touch them for a week and they got out of hand.

Thank goodness, Ulta cleaned them right up!

Next up was Old Navy and Gap to get a few things I’ve had my eye on and we finished the day at Toys-R-Us.

Have you met my husband? If not, just read this and you’ll understand why we always end up at Toys-R-Us yet have no children.

I can’t complain though because he didn’t. Not. one. time. all. day.

Miracles do exist!

Apparently, this is my best Thor impression. Marvel should be calling me any day about my role in Thor 3, don’t you think?

We did find this costume for Gracie. She loves Ninja Turtles {it makes Cory’s heart happy} and Toys-R-Us had their Halloween costumes marked down 75% so we had to get it for her. As you can tell, she loved it.

We finished up in Greenville and headed home to have dinner with my parents. We still hadn’t seen pictures from their trip so we looked through those and watched the Alabama vs. LSU game.

Out of respect for my Dad, I won’t share any details of the conversation we had but I never want to forget it. In four years if I come back to this post, I want to be reminded of our conversation and that I will always be “daddy’s little girl”. He had us all in tears by the time he got done talking. It meant so much to me that he opened up to Cory and I and I can only hope that one day, I am half the parent he is.

Once I got home, I realized that I hadn’t stopped in over 12 hours and probably over did it just a bit. I think I was asleep before my head even hit the pillow.

Sunday after church, Cory and I watched the Ravens game before we headed to our community group that evening. We co-host a community group with our Pastor Joel and his wife, Sandra for 18-25 year olds. I’m not sure if the younger people get anything out of it but we joke that we are all getting marriage counseling.

Ha! It’s always fun and my cheeks hurt a little from laughing so much when we left. In fact, we were all enjoying our conversation so much we didn’t realize it was after 9:00 pm. All jokes aside, we have a great group of people that can relax without being all “churchy” around each other and I can’t wait to continue to do life with these folks.

So that was my weekend in a nutshell. It was a go, go, go type weekend with no time spent at home except to sleep…poor pups.

And let me just say, after having someone home during the day for the past 5 weeks, the dogs looked at me Monday morning like I was breaking their hearts for leaving. It almost worked cause my heart can’t handle those pitiful eyes.
