Rainbow Chevron Birthday

This past Saturday was Kaylen’s 1st birthday and we celebrated with a rainbow chevron birthday party. K is my best friend Jessica’s little girl and seeing that party design is my favorite, I was so excited to help her plan the party. A few weeks ago we set out with a mission to find a “theme” for the party but we could never decide on a particular one. Once we found some rainbow chevron paper at Hobby Lobby, Jessica knew she wanted to use it. We added in some colorful balloons and decided the party would be a rainbow chevron birthday.

Once we found the paper, I designed the invitations, printed them up and we did dinner one Friday night and put the invitations and envelopes together. With the help of our husbands (yes, they helped!) we knocked them out!

Be prepared for the cuteness in these photos. K is a living doll.

I made this cupcake stand and you can view the tutorial here.

Jessica wanted to keep the food simple. We did the cake for K, cupcakes, homemade ice cream (to die for!) and watermelon. It was perfect for a summer afternoon in the South.

I originally was going to paint the high chair but the more we looked at it, the more we hated to cover it up because it was in perfect condition. I found it at a yard sale and it had been used for many years but you would never guess it by looking at it. It was a steal and will be a staple in my future party planning!

Tell me she is not the cutest thing ever?

As you can tell, she wasn’t too thrilled with the cake. She did not like having her hands dirty but after a few minutes, she got over it and dove in!

I was really happy with the way the rainbow chevron birthday party turned out. So far, I’ve only done showers so it was exciting to be a part of K’s first big day!
