Year in Review: 2013

January:

2013 started with our first annual NYE party which coincided with the Chick-Fil-A bowl where Clemson played LSU. Clemson won by a field goal as the time expired. We were some happy Clemson fans.

Jessica and I took Kaylen and Gracie to the Greenville Zoo to finally see Kiko {the baby giraffe}.

   February:

Cory and I completed Dave Ramsey’s baby step #2 on our journey to financial freedom.

We celebrated the Raven’s super bowl win at the Henson’s.

I hosted and decorated for Gracie’s 7th birthday.

We celebrated Valentines day with dinner at High Cotton and going to see “Safe Haven”.

We saw Grace Potter concert in concert for the 3rd time. She’s amazing.

  March:

Cory played his first Irish gig.

We spent St. Patrick’s day taking the dogs on their first hike to Station Cove Falls.

April:

My brother Jordan went to his first prom but didn’t have his licenses yet and his dates parents said an adult had to drive them. Of course it’s not cool to have your parents drive so we chauffeured them to pictures, dinner & prom.

We officially partnered with ONE and Cory joined the band. The Sunday we went forward to partner, Joel {our preacher} told us “welcome home.” What a wonderful feeling to be “home”.

May:

I did decorations for a shower I wasn’t able to attend in a church I had never seen before. It was my moms responsibility to get pictures and she sends me three cell phone pictures.

We headed to Columbia for Caleb’s graduation from USC.

We had to replace our washing machine and dryer.

June:

My family participated in the SC Ride for Life. It was the 2nd year for me and Cory and my parents 5th year. My dad always rides in it and it’s 300 miles over the course of three days.

After the ride, we stayed in Myrtle Beach with my parents for a couple days.

July:

We had a very rainy 4th of July {which is also Cory’s brother Caleb’s birthday} so we had dinner at Caleb and Anna’s and than watched the cities firework show from the back of my car, where it was dry.

My dad went on his first over seas mission trip to Romania.

My blog was born! I had been working on the design all summer and my first post was on July 24th.

I helped Jessica plan Kaylen’s rainbow chevron first birthday.

August:

Cory spent two weeks in Rwanda. Such precious little faces.

August was a month full of goodbyes. Darla, Cory’s mom, moved to Alabama and his brother, Caleb and his girlfriend Anna, moved to Austin.

September:

Cory and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary with a couples tattoo and dinner at Larkins on the River.

ONE had their big one year celebration.

We celebrated Cory’s 28th birthday.

October:

We celebrated my 26th birthday and Cory said I was officially old because he had to buy two packs of candles to have enough.

A movie staring Burt Reynolds filmed a few scenes at my dad’s grocery store.

Cory went on night shift and this breakfast was the only meal we ate together for 5 weeks.

Cory’s blog, Owl and Tree, was born.

November:

Cory and I spent a weekend in Gatlinburg.

Mom and I bought so much on Black Friday, we forgot to leave room for Gracie. We had to rearrange and leave stuff at my grandparents to get her home.

December:

We celebrated Jessica’s birthday.

Cory had two shows in Brevard and we stayed with my Papa and Barbara in Asheville.

We dog sat for Matt and Jessica and had a house full of dogs.

I tried {and failed} at getting my own pictures for our Christmas card.

2013 was a busy but wonderful year for the Sloan’s and 2014 is shaping up to be the same way. We are so blessed.
