Week 31 Bumpdate

It’s Fri-nally, y’all! The heat here in SC has been rough on this preggo and I’m probably a little too excited that Cory suggested we go float around in the lake after work today. If I could only explain the relief that cool water provides…it’s gold y’all. But to get us through this work day, here’s a little bumpdate update…just as I’m waving goodbye to 31 weeks.

Week 31 Bumpdate

How Far Along: 31 weeks, 6 days. Some days it doesn’t feel like I’ve been pregnant this long and others it feels like an eternity!
Size of Baby: She’s the size of asparagus. 16.1 inches long and 3.31 pounds, according to my app. I have no idea how accurate this is for Hot Pie since they haven’t done a growth scan since 20 weeks but her head was about 3 times as big as my cervix {or at least it looked that way} at my appointment yesterday. #ohdear
Gender: It’s a sweet girl! Read all about our gender reveal party here!
Movement: This week, she has been SO ACTIVE. It feels like every day, all day, she is cutting flips in my stomach. This has also been the first week that I’ve felt a definite arm or leg poking out.
Sleep: Despite having a basketball under my shirt, sleep is still good. Although, I feel like I’m not getting enough. Last Saturday, I slept until 12 pm {which I haven’t done in forever} and it was so nice!
Workouts: Short and sweet…no!
Maternity Clothes: Maternity dresses are most comfortable right now {besides yoga pants and a large t-shirt} and they are also the coolest.
Weight Gain: You guys, I about cried at my doctors’ appointment yesterday when the nurse told me I had gained 12 lbs {total of 43lbs} in the last two weeks. Thankfully, my sweet doctor reassured me that due to the severity of my swelling, that gain was mostly, if not completely, due to fluid retention and not actual weight gain. Whew! Way to give me a heart attack!
Symptoms: So. much. swelling. I feel like even my lips are swollen. I only have a one or two pairs of shoes that still fit. Thankfully, my blood pressure has been good so it’s just due to the heat and hormones. Heartburn has made it’s way back and I feel like I’ve been popping Tums like candy. Bring on a full head of hair! I’ve also had a few light cramps in my lower abdomen and a spot to the left of my belly button that is sore to the touch. I guess it’s just my skin stretching?
Cravings/Aversions: Still craving anything cold. We stocked up on fruit last night because I can’t seem to get enough of cold fruit. And gum. Isn’t that weird? I feel like my mouth stays so dry, which is strange with all this extra fluid, and gum helps it not be so dry. It also keeps me occupied since I suffer from ADHD and haven’t been on medicine for it since I got pregnant.
Missing Most: Having shoes to wear. A pair of orange Teva’s and my slippers are about the only shoes that I can still fit and are anywhere near comfortable.
Nursery: We got a lot accomplished this past weekend! We got the closet finished, everything from the past two showers sorted and put away, and her drawers are starting to get organized. I think it’s just gonna take some playing around with what works best for the dresser, though. You can see our nursery inspiration here!
Labor Signs: No! Thank you, Jesus.
Belly Button In or Out? Out.
Wedding Rings On or Off? My rings are safely tucked away in my jewelry box for the remainder of my pregnancy, I assume.
Hubby: Thankfully, our irritability went away this week. I think we both just really needed some rest this past weekend. He’s back to his sweet self, making sure that I’m taken care of. I can’t even count the number of foot rubs I’ve gotten this week. We are both just so excited about meeting our baby girl. While working in the nursery this past weekend, he made a comment something along the lines of “this is our daughter’s room!”. It’s just all so exciting and I think the reality is starting to really hit home with him.
Best Part of the Week: I got a good report from my last cervical measure yesterday. Even though my cervix was back down to measuring 2 cm, the doctor said she was good with that considering I’m almost 32 weeks. As long as I don’t show any signs of pre-term labor before 36 weeks, I should be good to go and I’m officially on regular appointments. I don’t even know what those are like!
Can’t Wait For: Jessica has been working so hard on my shower and it’s this weekend. She’s been sending me pictures of a few things for the shower and I can’t wait to see it all! It’s going to be the sweetest shower for our girl! Be sure to follow along on Instagram and Snapchat to see a sneak peek of it all!

I have seriously had the most unquenchable thirst this entire pregnancy, it drives me crazy but now I have to try gum because that may help! Glad to hear the nursery is really coming together and have so much fun at your shower this weekend!! Can’t wait to see pics!

    Hahahaha fri-nally. Love it.
Girl don’t even worry about the weight. I know it’s easier said than done and i know i keep saying this but seriously. Who cares! Tell your doctor to quit telling you unless you are endangering your kid, which i don’t think you are!

Bless your heart with all the swelling. Hope you get to float all weekend long. You deserve to just relax & cool off with all that work of like, growing a human ;)

Aw girl, I feel so bad about your swelling! You poor thing! You need more cool downs at the lake! SO happy to hear the good report about your cervix measurements! Yay! You look great! I love your dress! I need some more of those! Although chasing Remi around in a dress all day isn’t always fun. Lol
