Week 25 Bumpdate

Week 25 Bumpdate

More details on this dress + a giveaway on Friday!

How Far Along: 25 weeks, 4 days
Size of Baby: She’s as big as a head of cauliflower, 13.5 inches long and about 1.5 lbs.
Gender: It’s a sweet girl! Read all about our gender reveal party here!
Movement: I’m starting to figure out her really active times…like early in the morning and late at night. I really hope this isn’t a sign of things to come!
Sleep: I started taking a Sudafed before bed and it is helping so much with the congestion. It’s not really getting rid of it but helps me get some rest without sniffing and snorting all night. AND at my appointment on Monday, the doctor informed me that I could, in fact, be using Flonase since I’m not having any blood pressure issues. Hallelujah! I went home and immediately started using it. It’s cut down on my allergies so, so much.
Workouts: No actual workout but I was on my feet all weekend. My parents are downsizing after 22 years in their house so I spent all day on Saturday helping them get their new house cleaned and ready to move in to. And then on Sunday and Monday, Cory and I worked at our house. Seriously, I haven’t sat on my couch since Friday night and my poor feet are really feeling it!
Maternity Clothes: Have you seen my bump?
Weight Gain: It’s anywhere from 20-25 lbs depending on how swollen I am. Do y’all know how hard it is to report this number every week? Especially when I see all these super skinny pregnant woman in the world around me. The struggle is reallll.
Symptoms: Oh, the swelling y’all. My poor ankles have disappeared and I’m even realizing my knees, hands and face are swelling some. I know this is my body telling me to take a break but it’s just hasn’t happened yet. Any tips to help alleviate some of the swelling?
Cravings/Aversions: So, I saw where Ellie Kemper announced she was pregnant on the The Tonight Show and Jimmy Fallon gave her a pint of Ben and Jerry’s The Tonight Dough ice cream. I’ve been on a mad hunt for it ever since. The regular cookie dough did a good job filling in the gap though.
Missing Most: My back not hurting. I visited the chiropractor on Monday and she adjusted my neck and hips but I guess she couldn’t really do my back since I can’t lay on my stomach. She used the thumper in the places where I was hurting the most but after a full day back at work, it’s bothering me again. I pretty much live with an ice pack while I’m at home…I feel like such a old grandma.
Nursery: You guys, we made HUGE progress on the nursery this weekend. The walls are painted, the crib and dresser are put together, the bedding is ordered. Whew! It feels great to get this part behind us. If you follow along on Snapchat (reasonstch), you’ve already seen a few sneak peeks!
Labor Signs: No! Thank you, Jesus.
Belly Button In or Out? Definitely out!
Wedding Rings On or Off? Off, unfortunately. The swelling has been so bad the past couple days.
Hubby: I’m not sure if it’s hormone related or because he’s been working so stinking hard this weekend but my heart is just overflowing with gratitude for Cory. This was his last free weekend before starting a crazy work scheduled and he has worked tirelessly to get the nursery done {at least the stuff I can’t do}. His excitement is just so contagious and fun…he said he was even looking forward to putting together the IKEA dresser. That has to tell you something! I told my mom on Saturday that I honestly don’t know that I could have made it this far without him!
Best Part of the Week: We had our first two week check up on Monday and I can’t really put into words how scared I have been over this situation. As if becoming a mom for the first time isn’t scary enough, the idea of premature birth, NICU, a tiny babe…it all just had me living in fear. At church on Sunday, we sang this song and I just gave it all to Jesus. Hot Pie and I are already so blessed to be surrounded by so many  prayers and as I cried at the alter and I heard and felt prayers going on around me, I felt free of the fear I have been experiencing. So, Monday morning we made our way to the doctor and got a great report. My cervix hasn’t shortened any more and was actually above 3cm, even after pressure was applied to my abdomen.  We are still on a two week schedule but the prayers are working!
Can’t Wait For: The bedding to come in! The nursery has completely transformed, pretty much overnight, and the bedding will be the icing on the cake. Also, to get some rest this weekend! This mama needs to rest her feet and back!

you look so good! Love that dress :-) Trust me, I feel your pain on reporting the ‘weight gain’ number; I won’t complain about where I am at because it is a relatively good number, but even so when I see ladies who are at the end and only up 15 pounds..it can be rough to hear. but I like the bumpdates best that are raw and honest! weight gain, stretch marks..it is all real life, and is awesome when people can be honest about where they are at and acknowledge pregnancy isn’t always easy and dreamy!
AND so happy you had a great doctors appointment and things are looking good for baby!

First – that dress is GORGEOUS on you!
… ahh – I love how much you love your husband – & he loves you. Such a precious couple.
… Praying for a smooth pregnancy & everything hangs in there for you. I know you are giving it to God to take care of – & we know He will!
    … Your poor back :( That’s miserable.
… Girl – dont you fret posting your weight. Everyone does it differently. No comparisons – ESPECIALLY when you’re talking about growing a human :)

yay can’t wait to see more of the nursery! and that’s awesome that cory has been so fabulous. sucks about your back though, is there not like a pregnancy specific chiro you can go to? i feel like back pain would be pretty common :(

Love that dress on you! You look so great! So sorry to hear about all the swelling and back pain. A friend of mine was SUPER swollen all throughout both her pregnancies, but no lie was back in a bikini within MONTHS after delivery. Different bodies handle pregnancy differently. Hopefully you will find some relief for all the discomfort!

Ummm, I need this dress!!! I’m not pregnant, I know, but can I have it for next time?!?!?! You look beautiful!
Okay, so I wasn’t going to tell you this, but I can not have you feeling bad. I gained 75 lbs in my pregnancy, so by this point it was pretty bad. That’s why I posted so few pictures. Please, do not beat yourself up about ANY weight you are gaining. Trust me, it will go away afterwards. You are growing a beautiful baby girl. She just wants to be sure you know she is there, lol!
I am so happy you got such a good report, Paige. I know you must be so relieved.
I can not wait to see your nursery! I know it will be beautiful. :)

Oh, and as for the swelling…mine was terrible but I can’t really remember having many options available. I tried keeping my feet elevated on a box under my desk at work, but I walked a lot at work too, so it didn’t help too much. I did prop my feet up at home and that helped. My doctor also told me to wear compression stockings (I think that’s what they were called). I found some cute black maternity stockings that did the trick. They were a pain to get on, but they helped a little. Other than that, gosh, I just can’t remember. It actually got worse in the hospital, but I had my ankles and wrist back not too long after we were home. It worked out. It doesn’t help we live in the humid, hot south, lol!
