Tuesday Tea: Reading My Bible Daily
I don’t know about everyone else but the Sloans, we stay busy. March, especially, has been nonstop. Hence the neglect on this little bloggy of mine. I promise I’ve got some good post planned if I ever get some free time to finish them up. You know what else that suffers when I get busy? Reading my Bible on a daily basis. And I’m sure this is a problem we all face. Why is it something so important is the first thing to go on the back burner?
If you’ve followed along since the new year, you may remember that one of my goals for the year was to read my Bible cover to cover, in hopes to spend more time on a daily basis in the Word. So, I downloaded this Bible app that had a daily plan to read the Bible in year.
I was doing pretty good about reading it throughout the week but would always get behind on the weekend and things got busy and I got really behind. One neat thing about this app is the “catch up” feature and I had to use it when I was about two weeks behind. After that, I decided to buckle down and really work on reading it everyday but I had to come up with a better way than try and reading in the evening because it just wasn’t getting done.
Here’s what I came up with…I spend my morning and afternoon commutes in the Word. Now, you may be asking how this is safe since I don’t live in a big city and drive to and from work but this app has another cool feature- it will read the Bible to you.
So, every morning I get in my car, buckle up and open my Bible app. I always do this before I start driving. Ahem.
I select “The Bible in a Year” and it pulls up my plan.
It brings up the readings for the day and I click on the first one.
It will pull up the chapter and automatically go to the verse. To have it read out loud, you have to click the speaker button on the bottom right.
Then just hit play and enjoy!
I’ve found that it takes me almost the entire drive to work to get through one day which works out perfectly. I’m still behind a few days because the past two weekends have been so incredibly busy but doing two a day really helps keep me on top of it. Plus, this makes my drives to and from work a lot less tense…I’m not stressing over traffic or looking at the clock every five seconds.
So this is one way that I’ve found that really helps me stay on top of reading listening to my Bible daily. What methods do you use?
Today, I’m linking up for Tuesday Tea with Jenni, Sam, Khala and Reneé.

That is a really good idea! I live in a city…so I could do it while i was walking.

I use the YouVersion app too, although I have been slacking on it recently and need to jump back on the bandwagon. I love the devotionals you can download too. Very cool how you figured out how to listen in the car! Great idea!

I’ve never downloaded the devotionals. I will have to check those out! Listening in the car has been the best solution for me to get it done.
