New Year’s Eve

Happy Monday, y’all! I started my day off with a healthy breakfast, the first day of C25K and an arm and ab workout from the Tone It Up girls…pretty productive if I say so myself. I’ll share more about all that tomorrow though.

Since I took Thursday and Friday off from blogging, I wanted to recap our New Year’s Eve.

Unlike last year, we kept things real low key to ring in 2015. Partly because Cory and I had to work this year but mostly because I still wasn’t feeling 100%.  I thought I just had a cold but after five days of the worst sinus pressure I’ve ever felt, I finally gave in on Tuesday and went to the doctor. Turns out, I had a nasty sinus infection and started a round of antibiotics and a steroid spray. Between feeling under the weather and working, I just didn’t have any energy to decorate {or even plan} a party.

Thankfully, our friends don’t need the decorations to still have a good time!

New Years Eve

This is the first year that Kaylen has spent New Year’s with us and she was so much fun! She was so proud of her outfit, especially her necklace.

The Hensons were out of town for Christmas so we let Kaylen open her gift before everyone else got there.

And Uncle Cory Ninja painted her finger nails. Bless it!

New Years Eve 4

We snacked on some good food, watched some football, shot off a few fireworks {which K loved!} and waited for the ball to drop.

No one else I’d rather ring the new year in with!

Allen had to show off his New Year’s attire. Pretty classy, right?

And the boys wanted a picture just like the girls :)

New Years Eve 11

Mine and Jessica’s traditional New Years picture included K this year to which she was trying to show off her nails. This girl cracks me up!

New Years Eve 12

We love us some Allen and Tammie! This is the fourth New Years we’ve spent with them.

New Years Eve 13

My love. So excited to spend another year with this guy.

New Years Eve 14

And we can’t forget the furbabies.

Cory thought he was to avoid the mess that is confetti this year but right before the ball dropped, I remembered I had a couple confetti packs left from last year. Good thing K can’t read because they had 2014 on them.

New Years Eve 19

Judging by the smile on her face, she enjoyed the confetti. A year old and all.

And then she immediately wanted to clean it up. A girl after Uncle Cory’s heart.

When I woke up on Thursday morning, Cory had already cleaned up the  house {you can be jealous, it’s okay!} and we spent the entire day in our pjs, watching football. There were lots of puppy snuggles and cheering for Oregon and Ohio State. A lazy New Year’s day has kinda become our tradition and there’s no other way I’d rather start 2015!

Check back tomorrow to hear about my life goals for 2015!

Ringing in 2014!

Cory and I rang in 2014 with awesome friends, lots of good food, a warm bonfire, sparklers, horns & confetti and a toast at midnight. What better way to start a new year?

In case you missed it, you can see all my New Year’s Eve Party Decor here.

Jessica and I have a New Year tradition which simply is to spend it together. I can only remember two years we didn’t get to spend it together and one was because she was getting proposed to. We always have to get our New Year picture.

The dogs weren’t too crazy about all the excitement firecrackers and horns.

Love me some Forrester boys.

These beauties are a result of leaving my camera unattended.

Again, the dogs were freaking out just a little and Stein needed some love from his Mama.

Wait, is it right now?

Ha. Maybe the horns weren’t such a good idea.

My OCD husband wasn’t enjoying the floor covered in confetti.

Or maybe the adults enjoyed the horns more than the kids.

Those are some bossy ladies in the background.

You can’t fake these faces. I only wish I knew what they were looking at but at least I was ready. Typical.

Do you know how hard it is to get 5 ladies to all look at the same camera at the same time? I think I had 10 different shots and this was the best one and Tonya was still blowing on that horn. Love her!

One thing I learned this New Year’s Eve, Cale loves photo bombing.

New Year’s Eve Party Decor

So, I realize this post is ridiculously late but better now than June, right? I let New Years Eve sneak up on me with Christmas being so crazy and decided last minute I actually wanted to do some decorations for our annual bash. I think for last minute decorations, they turned out pretty stinkin’ cute but I have to say that Cory was a trooper helping me pull off this New Year’s Eve party decorations. Next year, I’ll plan better. Maybe.

I found this idea on Pinterest but unfortunately I forgot to pin it. If you know the original, I’d love to have it so I can give credit where credit is due!

I made the 2014 out of paper mache letters, Mod Podge and glitter that I picked up from Hobby Lobby. It was such an easy project that really added pop to my table.

I made the “Happy New Year” banner with some adorable gold glitter paper I picked up from Michael’s and the tassel banner was made from tissue paper I picked up at Hobby Lobby and the Dollar Tree. Again, Cory was a trooper for helping me with that tassel banner because it was a pain.

New Year's Eve Party Decorations
When I got up on New Year’s Day, I found this hat on my angel. I originally bought them for the dogs but they weren’t having it so we ended up wearing them most the night. A lot of my New Year’s Eve party decorations were DIY but I did buy some things because I was so short on time. I found the pom poms {I fluffed them though!}, the horns and the confetti at Party City and all my cute printables came from Amy @
