Weekend Recap

Slam Packed Weekend

Holy cow! What a slammed packed weekend we had at the Sloan house. I seriously tried all weekend to get a post up but had absolutely no free time. Even though it was packed, it was a great weekend!

Friday:

anniversary date night

Remember when I mentioned here that Wednesday was mine and Cory’s 3rd anniversary? Well, on Friday night we got to celebrate with dinner in downtown Greenville at Larkin’s on the River.

Oh. My. Goodness. I’m still thinking about the food, it was that good.

I was planning on getting the Shrimp n’ Grits but I’m a steak kind of girl. Once the waiter told me they were known for their steak, I had to get it.

We passed the happy kind of full and left uncomfortably full but it was well worth it.
Of course, I forgot my camera and it was dark but we did manage to snap a few photos with my phone.

Saturday:

Cory had band practice Saturday morning so I got up and worked on some invitations I’m doing for Jessica. I do my invitations on my Silhouette Cameo and it was not cooperating. I don’t know what the problem was but I worked all morning and still didn’t finish.

Cory came home from practice and we headed to a birthday party. Cory’s cousin Leevon has little boy, Braxton, and his 4th birthday party was on Saturday. He loves Ninja Turtles {so does Cory} so it was only appropriate to have a Ninja Turtle party. It turned out so cute and Erin, Leevon’s wife, had some very creative ideas.

Of course, Cory had to dress for the party. He came prepared with a Ninja Turtles shirt and hat.

ninja turtle birthday snackThe “Sewer Lids” were oreos, the “Dirt & Worms” were crushed up oreos and gummy worms and a Ninja Turtle party is not complete without pizza.

ninja turtle birthday toysI’m pretty sure Cory and Leevon were more excited about Braxtons gifts since they opened them and started playing before he got a chance. Just a bunch of kids!

And of course, Cory was enjoying his party favor.

After the party, we headed out to a camp ground that was hosting a bike rally. This is the second year that our church has fed the bikers and they have a church service afterwards. Because of the party, we weren’t able to help serve the hamburgers and hotdogs but we made it time to hear some rockin’ worship songs and our preacher, Joel, brought the word!

The church that does the bike rally is a “biker church” which just means that most of the members ride motorcycles. I didn’t know any of the songs but it was an incredible experience to step back and watch other people truly worship. Some might not be able to get into the worship if they didn’t know they songs but it was a worshiping experience in itself just to watch others praise God.

The service didn’t start till 7pm and it was after 10pm when we got home. We ate some {late} dinner and I finished cutting the invitations. When I got done, Cory had crashed on the couch. Even though I woke him up and he responded, he never came to bed. I wasn’t too worried about it because it was nice having the bed to myself for the night.

Sunday:

Sunday evening was the big one year celebration for our church so we didn’t have our morning service. I slept in a little and was finally able to get some pictures of my fall mantle. We had the celebration at the high school auditorium and had to be there at 1pm to set up.

ONE Community ChurchThe guys got the musical “stuff” and lights set up and the girls got the foyer ready.

ONE Community ChurchWe had brochures and handouts for all the ministries that we offer at ONE. We also had information on our ONE 2 ONE community groups that we are launching. Cory and I are co-leading one and we are so excited to start!
Cory doesn’t play anywhere without this rabbit. Don’t ask me why but he says it helps his “mojo.” He forgot it yesterday and went all the way home just to get it.
ONE Community ChurchIt was a long day but the celebration was amazing. The spirit showed up. Big time.  For the second night in a row, it was after 10pm before we got home and ate.

I snapped this picture of Einstein and we all felt this way! We. were. exhausted.

This officially is the longest blog post ever, so I will finish now! I have to finish the invitations today and work on my fall decorations post. I can’t wait to share them!
