Our House Throughout the Years | Kitchen & Dining Room
Maybe this is more common than I think, but I feel like our house has been through so many different phases since we moved in five short years ago. With the kitchen torn apart, the dining room moving and the whole paint scheme {and a lot of our decor} changing, I thought it would be a good time to start a little series documenting all the different looks our house has had.
Today, I’m starting off with the kitchen & dining room area but that also included the front entryway hallway off the front door. Keep in mind, our old kitchen {so glad I can say that!} was in an extremely awkward location. It’s honestly like they forgot the kitchen when they were building the house and said “crap! we’ll have to just put it right smack dab in the middle of the house.”
The day we got the keys to our house…
The view from the front door. SO glad we got rid of those red knobs!
Standing at our fireplace, looking into the kitchen.
The previous owners were gracious enough to leave us their dining room table and while it wasn’t our favorite, we didn’t have one.
A couple of months after moving in…

My decor was almost embarrassing, but we did the best we could with what we had!
Cory and I keep giggling at how random all the little pictures on the wall were!
After paint and serious decor {most of which won’t be going back up} happened…
The view from the front door, looking into the living room.
And a few months later we replaced the light fixtures in the dining room, kitchen and entry way…
…and said goodbye to what Cory lovingly referred to as “The White Orb of Gondor”.
I do miss that rug though. We had to get rid of it because of Hampton’s…indiscretions. This photo was probably taken as he left the scene of the crime.

Most recently at Christmas 2014…
Again, the view from the front door, looking into the living room.
The awkward hallway that no longer exist!
Apparently the fire was burning, because Einstein melted.
This, technically, is the living room but I wanted to show you all the weird angles of our kitchen. Because it was so small, it was hard to capture it.
Looking into the dining room with the back door on the right, past the china cabinet.
And lastly, our little ‘ole kitchen the day we said goodbye and tore her out…

My OCD husband said he likes the house all empty like this, because it’s the only time he feels like it’s clean. Good grief.

Some of these pictures really make me cringe. The old ones are blurry and “real life” with a mess on the table and dogs everywhere but hopefully, this will give you an idea of the drastic change in layout that is happening. I really wish I had a fish eye lens because I feel like that’s the only accurate way to capture this little space but I think this post will get the job done!
Has your house been through many different phases or are you the type to leave it how it is?

I think i can relate to cory on this one because I love “nice, clean, empty” rooms. And empty cupboards, and empty fridges. I know that’s impractical, but I love how clean and organized things look when you hardly have anything! :P
You guys definitely have changed up the look quite a bit over the years!

You guys have definitely made some awesome changes! I had to laugh about the red knobs because that is always the first thing I change whenever I move somewhere new!

Definitely love the updates you’ve already done! And I know the kitchen will be awesome! I remember some of these photos from Christmas Time!

Those red knobs are terrible! And so random! I love posts like this. Every January I take pictures of our living room/dining room/ kitchen area and put together a post showing the changes over the year. It’s fun to look back at a room and how it’s evolved over the years!

All the changes… I’m embarrassed to say I’ve been in the same house for 14 yrs & we’ve changed nothing… ugh.
