Weekend Recap

I’m gonna need life to slow down.

Holy cow! How is it already Tuesday? I feel like it took me so long to get my fall home tour up and I’ve barely posted since.

My bad.

I promise to do better but life has been so busy lately. I feel like Cory and I run 90 mph, most of the time in different directions. Last night I was planning to work on a post but yesterday was Cory’s birthday. I thought it was more important to snuggle up with him on the couch and watch some Ninja Turtles. Hey, it’s his birthday, his way.

Happy birthday, babe! {Sorry it’s a day late}

And by snuggling up, I mean I fell asleep in the first 20 minutes which is very unusual for me. I never fall asleep on the couch unless I’m super tired.

After the past two weekends, I had a reason to be super tired. Our weekends are flying by and they need to slow down!

Friday:

Friday night we went out to eat with my parents than hit up the grocery store for tailgating on Saturday. We had to run to Ingles because Bi-Lo didn’t have any pumpkin. {Hello, it’s fall. Stock up on your pumpkin!} To my surprise, Ingles now has a Starbucks inside of it.

How did I miss this?

I’m not a coffee drinker but Starbucks does have some drinks that I enjoy. Since Facebook and Twitter have been blowing up about the Pumpkin Spice Latte, I had to try one. It was pretty good. I would have liked more pumpkin flavor in it but I would get it again.

Can I just say that a PSL at 8:00 pm is not the best idea. I crashed hard at midnight.

Saturday:

Saturday was spent at the Clemson game, as most of our Saturdays in the fall.

The weather was perfect.

Here’s a little glimpse inside our tailgate. We’ve got one heck of a setup, including fans, misters and a TV. Cory and I can’t take credit for any of this, though. His family has been doing this for years and they’ve got it down to science. Any given week, we could have 10 people or 50 people but this size is about average.

Clemson Tiger Tailgate Howard's Rock
Howard’s Rock is a tradition that Clemson has and the football players rub the rock before running down the hill. If you have no clue what I’m talking about, you can read about the tradition here. We’ve even got our own rock and yes, we rub it for good luck before we head into the game.

See how clear the sky was? I was trying to get a picture of flags and didn’t even realize the stuffed tiger on top of someones car. Clemson fans mean business.

Sunday:

Our worship pastor was out of town this past weekend and Cory lead the music. My heart can hardly handle it when he leads. No, I don’t think he is better or anything but I love seeing him use his talents to serve the Lord and provide a worshiping experience for others.

Proud wife over here!

I know it’s not a great picture but I was to busy worshiping to worry about good pictures. Plus, it’s really dark and really packed but you get the point.

Our church started community groups Sunday evening and Cory and I are co-leading a group for the 18-25 age group. We had a wonderful turnout for our first meeting and are so excited about doing life with this group of people!

Even though the group had a great turn out, my strawberry pretzel salad did not. If I’m being honest, I’m an ugly cooker. Most of what I bake turns out ugly but taste good. Just keeping it real here.

I saw the empty container sitting in the sink this morning so someone must have liked it.

Monday:

Ninja Turtle Birthday

Yesterday was Cory’s 28th birthday. He will always be a big kid hence the ninja turtles.

I started the day with a dentist appointment {no cavities!} and spent the rest of the day running errands around town. I still had to pick up Cory’s present and go to the grocery store.

Ninja Turtle Banner
I felt awful for buying him a banner rather than making him one like I do for every other party I’ve thrown, but it was last minute. I saw it in Walmart and grabbed it.

Ninja Turtle Birthday
Even though he is getting old older, everyone likes to feel special on their birthday. He knew what he was getting but it still had to be wrapped. What’s a birthday without a present to open?

Cory recently got a late 70’s model CJ7 and all he wanted for his birthday was jeep parts. Do you know how hard it is to buy jeep parts?

He decided the next thing he wanted to do to the jeep was get a radio in it. Since he knows how I am about having a gift to open, he told me where to go get the stereo and wanted the rest in cash so he could go get the speakers. I know it isn’t very exciting to know what you are getting but he insisted that that was what he wanted.

Yes, I give my husband inappropriate cards for his birthday.

He also got some of his favorite candy.

He looks special satisfied to me.

Clean Zucchini Lasagna
Cory and I try to eat clean. I say try because we haven’t been very good at it lately but for his birthday supper he requested a clean zucchini lasagna that I’ve done before. I found the recipe here and it really is a great dish.

It blows my mind that the first birthday we celebrated together, he was turning 21.

Boy, have we both come a long way since then. In this picture, we had been dating about eight months and I’m not sure that either one of us thought we’d be married seven years later.

Even though this weekend was just as packed as last weekend, it was another good one. I’m trying to soak in all the time with Cory possible because he’s getting ready to go on night shift for a few weeks.

Have a good week ya’ll!
