Fundraiser Ideas- Black Light Zumba
Whew! The past two weeks have been absolutely crazy on the home front. After our annual indoor yard sale tomorrow, we will have had three fundraisers in two weeks. Talk about chaos!
I would hardly call Cory and myself fundraising pros but we have had a lot of success in raising money for mission trips the past three years. Coming up with fundraiser ideas can get hard because you want to do things that people will actually show up for but also want to try new things to catch people’s attention.
When Amber suggested having a Black Light Zumba fundraiser {something Cory and I would have NEVER thought about}, we jumped all over the idea. Turns out, it was a great idea and we had a lot of success with it!
Fundraiser Ideas: Black Light Zumba
Fortunately, this fundraiser cost us next to nothing- Jennifer, our instructor, was a friend of Amber’s and donated her time, the building was free of charge, and many of the black lights were borrowed. Minus the cost of a couple packs of glow sticks, almost everything we made was profit.
It works best to have a completely blacked out room but we covered the windows with trash bags and no one seemed to mind the little light we had. We were all still glowing!
I think the part many people enjoyed was that it was too dark for anyone to see them. Other than the glow necklaces, you couldn’t tell who was really bad. Ha!
We had almost 50 people show up, which is HUGE! Plus, we had a ton of people ask if we were going to do it again.
Just a few of my favorite ONEsisters.
And our awesome instructor! Seriously, if you live in the Seneca/ Clemson area, Jennifer teaches weekly classes. You should definitely check her out!
The key to turning any fundraiser idea into a successful fundraiser is advertising. We had fliers printed and handed out all over town, announced it at church, created an event on Facebook, then shared it like crazy. Over and over again.
Turns out, people love Zumba so add in a few black lights and glow sticks, you’ve got one fun and successful fundraiser!

Hello there! This is such a wonderful idea! Did you use actual black lights? How many did you need for the gym space you used?

I love this idea. I’m looking for ideas for my cheer team to do. Did you use black lights and how many did you have?

I love this idea. I’m looking for something my cheer team can do. Did you use black lights and how many did you have? If we do this it will be in a gym.
