Five on Friday

Happy Friday, y’all! Sorry I’ve been MIA this week. I tried to come up with a good excuse but the only one I can come up with is I’ve been a little under the weather with some kind of cold. I almost always get sick when the weather changes and since it went from snow last week to 70 degrees this week, it was inevitable. It’s been a good week to be MIA though because I’ve been stumped on post ideas.

Anyway, on to my Five on Friday!

Since Amber and I have become instant best friends, we’ve started watching Pretty Little Liars together on Tuesday nights. {She gets my obsession and may be more obsessed than me} This past Tuesday we met up for mexican before heading to my house to watch the show. I won’t spoil it for anyone who might want to still watch it because it was a great episode but I think we enjoyed Aria’s face more. It still makes me chuckle when I look at it.

I’ve colored my hair exactly four times in my life and two of those times were to fix the very first time when I thought it would be a good idea to let my sister highlight my hair the weekend before my senior prom. Turns out, it wasn’t such a great idea. Word of advice…unless your sister is a hair dresser, never trust her when she says she knows how to highlight hair.

The last time I colored my hair was the summer after I graduated from Clemson and I had somehow managed to put on about 25 lbs and was convinced it was my hair color that made me look bigger. Just recently my BFF Jessica had the heart to tell me it wasn’t the color but the fact that I WAS bigger. {Not that I didn’t know that already}. So it’s been almost four years of growing my hair out and I’m kinda tired of the same ‘ole long brown hair. I need a change without chopping it all off.

So now I’ve got to decided…a brown ombre

or reddish/blonde highlights.

On Tuesday, Alyssa at Southern Abundance posted about birthday cards for Colin. This was the first I had heard about it but as soon as I read her post, I knew I had to join in. Colin is a 10 year old boy who will be 11 on March 9th and when his mom asked him if he wanted a party he told her there was no point because he didn’t have any friends. Due to Colin’s disabilities, kids at school pick on him so much so that he eats lunch in the office everyday, alone. {Absolutely heart breaking}. In order to show Colin that he had friends around the world, his Mom started a Facebook page encouraging people to send Colin a birthday card.

So I picked up a card on my way from work yesterday and put it in mail this morning. It’s such a simple gesture and I know it will make a world of difference for Colin.

My parents went to see David Jeremiah speak last night so I had Miss Gracie. She asked me who the card was for so I told her the story of Colin and she said “it’s so sad he eats lunch by himself.” She seriously has the sweetest heart and asked if she could  help me write his birthday card. We decided what we were going to say, wrote it out and sealed it up. Evenings like that make me miss living at home and getting to spend more time with this precious child.
