Five on Friday
Goodness…it’s been another full week of planning home renovations and I just thought things were getting real last Friday! We really didn’t have very much exciting happening this week, other than meeting with an insurance adjuster, our roofer and a floor guy. It’s exciting to us because they all told us exactly what we wanted to hear {and some even better!} but I’m sure it’s a bore to everyone else.
Until we aren’t living and breathing renovations, my Friday post will probably be focused on whatever project we are currently working on. Not by planning but that’s at the forefront of our lives right now and this is a blog about my life and all. Please feel free to skip these post if you don’t care anything about our chaotic lives of living through a kitchen remodel {although it’s bound to be funny working with the Mr.}. It really won’t hurt my feelings.
ONE | The painter is coming NEXT WEEK and I don’t even have a color picked out. I know I want to do a gray but if you remember, it took me like three months to decide on a gray for our bedroom. I think it’s good to have a time limit though because I know I over analyze some decisions. But seriously, I have two days to get my act together.
I love the dark gray and I really think it’s a timeless look but gray has to be the trickiest color in the world to decide on. It can’t be too blue or too green or even tan. Especially for the outside, I want it to be the purest gray I can find. Any suggestions?
TWO | I was having a mini freak out yesterdayWe because we’ve got a lot on our plate. And if you really know me, you know that I’m a planner by nature. Since we are doing parts of this remodel ourselves and contracting some parts out,I really wanted a timeline of how things would play out so we don’t end up with unnecessary down weeks with no kitchen {not that it would really matter since we really don’t cook}. Cory wrote up a schedule for the next month and half and emailed it to me with this warning.
He knows me so well.
THREE | We will have a patch of hardwood from where our current kitchen sits and the flooring guy confirmed our fears that more than likely, he wouldn’t be able to match the color because the previous owners used a custom color. I was worried that refinishing the whole house would be out of our budget right now and we’d be stuck with a square that would obviously stand out. I was giddy when Cory sent me the estimate and IT’S IN OUR BUDGET. Hello, dark floors! I’ve always dreamed of you!
FOUR | We ordered our cabinets last night. We were so excited and than we left and it was like a knot in our stomachs because that’s officially the largest purchase we’ve ever made besides our house {yes, even more than we’ve spent on a vehicle}. It literally gave me the worse headache last night. But…it’s behind us and I don’t have to stress about it anymore.
FIVE | And in case you’ve had a crazy, stressful week, watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix. It’s hilarious and there’s nothing a good laugh can’t fix. We’ll probably finish season 1 this weekend while we’re packing up our kitchen.
So the biggest question now is who wants to let us and our three crazy dogs move in for a week while they refinish our floors? Hope ya’ll have a happy Friday and great weekend.
I’m linking up with all kinds of fun ladies today {darci, karli, amanda, tif, andrea} and you should too!

Oh my goodness! I know the feeling after making a big purchase like the cabinets. But at least the stress of worrying over it is done. Congrats! Now to pick out a paint color! Your house will be gorgeous! Can’t wait to see the pics!

I can’t wait to see everything come together so I will most definitely not be skipping these posts!
Gray is so hard, unfortunately I have no advice on the gray you should pick for the exterior color but maybe try asking the people that will be painting it?
I’m so happy for y’all that you’re able to do all this, I know it’ll be stressful at times but you’ll get through it and have an amazing looking house in the end. :)
And btw, I love the picture of the gray house’s landscaping. I’ve been looking for some inspiration on what to do at our casa, ha! Have a great weekend girl!

I love love love following along with your renovations and DIY projects so I definitely won’t be skipping past these posts :) I’m interested about the gray paint too because I’m in the same boat trying to choose a gray paint color for our nursery – obviously much smaller scale than the entire exterior of the house! I will be curious to see the finished product but that picture you shared is a beautiful gray color! That’s also excellent news about refinishing your floors! Our new house has light oak looking laminate throughout the downstairs and I’m already hating it. I think I’d like to have dark floors too – or maybe a beachy light washed floor instead? I’m not sure I could ever successfully pull off a house remodel because I have seen way too many beautiful ideas on Pinterest that I love. If ya’ll really need a place, come on up to Simpsonville! :)
Have a great weekend lovely!

Wow, sounds like you’ve got big projects coming up! Your house is going to look so gorgeous when they’re finished! I am so not a perfectionist when it comes to any kind of decor, however, so I can’t quite imagine thinking long and hard about paint. Every time I’ve painted a room, I’ve just gone to the paint store, picked out a chip I thought looked pretty, and had my paint made within 15 minutes.

Eeek I’m so excited for you guys! It’s all going to look awesome. New hardwood floors and a kitchen are on our to do list one day (hopefully next year) so I can’t wait to follow along on this! Happy weekend!
Tif @ Bright on a Budget
We had dark hardwood floors in one of our houses and we loved it! It sounds like you have your hands full right now–I hope everything goes smoothly:) And the cabinets probably would have sent me into a small medical emergency, having to shell out that much money.haha
Thanks for linking up with us for H54F!!!
