Five on Friday
Happy Friday, y’all! Another week is almost under our belt and we’ve got a busy weekend ahead of us! My brothers leave for the National Guard on Monday so we’ve got a going away party for them tonight, Clemson football and Oktoberfest tomorrow and Cory’s mom is coming into town on Sunday. I also wanted to get our bedroom painted this weekend sometime, in between all that! It’s gonna be go, go, go all weekend but I’m ready for everything it will bring!
I’m linking up with all kinds of fun ladies today {darci, karli, amanda, lauren, andrea} …you should too!
ONE | Snuggly pups.
If you read about our horrible experience at the Apple Orchard than you know the trouble we’ve been having with our dogs and their separation anxiety. Since last weekend, when we came home to pee on our couch TWICE, we decided to start kenneling Hampton during the day. For the first two years of his life, he spent every day in there and I hated doing it then but I worked close enough to come home at lunch and let him out. Now, I don’t and it absolutely breaks my heart to see his puppy eyes glaring at me every morning.
The only good thing about kenneling him again is the snuggles I’m getting in the evenings. This week with all the rain we’ve had and a snuggly Hampton has made it glorious for curling up on the couch and not moving for the rest of the evening! Our hope is that in a few weeks, he won’t freak out as much and will be okay to leave out during the day.
TWO | Friends who will walk your dogs.
Amber doesn’t go into work until 2:30 so I asked her on Tuesday if she would mind running to the house and letting Hampton out for a few minutes before she went to work. To which she replied “I was actually wanting to ask you if you would mind if I started taking them on walks? It would be before I go to work so like around 12? It gives me an incentive to walk.”
Uh, heck yes! It’s a huge blessing to have friends that love your dogs just as much as you do!
PS- please notice how big Hampton’s butt is!
THREE | Parks and Recreation.
How have I not discovered this show sooner??? Cory and I are HUGE fans of The Office {it was a huge staple in our relationship} and I was so depressed when it went off. All Cory had to do was tell me he found a show that was “very similar” to The Office and I was hooked. Needless to say, it’s been a Netflix binge fest at the Sloan’s for the past couple weeks.
FOUR | Sleeping in sheds.
Some of you may not know this about my husband but he can fall asleep in the craziest places, in an instant. Like at a tailgate with a plate of food in his lap.
Or in his truck, parked in the carport while cleaning it out. But what I found last night takes the cake…
Cory was in our shed putting this papasan chair up and after 10 minutes or so I realized he was still outside so I peeked out the door to find him sound asleep. In our shed. In a papasan chair.
Blows my mind every time.
FIVE | Rwanda Recap.
In case you missed my first Rwanda recap yesterday, you can read all about our departure, arrival and first full day in Africa here. I can’t wait to share our first day in Nyabihu with y’all next Thursday because the there is a cuteness overload of children!
What are your plans for the weekend? Will it be a busy one like us?
Happy weekend, y’all!

My husband is the same way about sleeping – I’m sort of jealous of the ability to fall asleep anywhere!! Hope you have a great weekend!
Paige Sloan
Me too! I’m glad to know my husband isn’t the only crazy sleeper! Hope you had a great weekend!

Parks & Rec is so fantastic!!!
Our dog has such bad separation anxiety as well. & he pees with all excitement when we get home. I never had a dog pee so much… when scared, when excited, when sad, when happy. I’m getting diapers for this boy!
Paige Sloan
I didn’t think about diapers but knowing our dogs…he’d just rip them off. Hopefully, time will ease his anxiety because we never had any problems out of them before we left for Rwanda.

My mom has a dog that has separation anxiety problems too. They leave the tv on for them when they are gone. It’s supposed to help! Hope you have a good weekend girl!
Paige Sloan
We haven’t thought of that but we are willing to try anything at this point! Hope you had a great weekend, pretty girl!

Haha! Love the pictures of Cory! Nick is such a good sleeper, too… I swear he’s already sleeping before his head is even down on the pillow! Happy Friday :)

Funny story…We were watching the FSU football game Saturday night and I wiggled Cory because he was snoring and he said “Oh, was I asleep? I was trying so hard to stay awake.” He didn’t even know he had fallen asleep and he was instantly snoring! I wish I could sleep that good!
Sarah
That is too funny. I love the pic of him sleeping in the car :) stopping by for h54f :)

It shocks me every time I find him but I’m really not sure why! Thanks for stopping by!

Think your friend would walk Pixie too ;) Your hubby is so funny, Dustin is the same! He can tilt his head and be out, no matter where we are!
Paige Sloan
Maybe it’s a guy thing??? Is it awful that I’m so willing to let someone else walk my dogs? I need the exercise too!
Paige
hilarious about your husband! i have a friend who is like that too. one time she fell asleep standing up in the student section at a college football game. ridiculous lol!
Paige Sloan
Oh my gosh! I don’t know about all student sections but at Clemson, it is crazy! I can’t imagine anyone being able to do that!
Donna
I LOVE Park & Rec! One of my all-time favourite shows without a doubt. If you haven’t already checked out 30 rock I RECOMMEND that as well. Tina Fey & Amy Poelher are the best! Happy weekend! :)
Paige Sloan
You know, when Cory first mentioned Park & Rec to me, I thought he was talking about 30 Rock. We may have to start that one next! Hope you had a great weekend!
