Our First Trip to IKEA
For the past couples months, I’ve been itching to go to IKEA. We’ve talked about going a few times but it seemed like every time we would start to plan a trip, something else would take precedence. This past weekend we finally had a semi-free Saturday because Cory’s work schedule got shifted around last minute so we decided to take advantage of it and headed on down to IKEA.
We are about an hour and 1/2 to two hours away from Atlanta depending on how fast you drive how bad traffic is but thankfully it wasn’t too bad (or Mr. Sloan was driving really fast).
I felt like a kid in a candy store.
Trying to figure out if I have room to put one of these in our room. Sadly, I don’t.
Drawing my plans for the office so Cory could see my “vision”.
If you’ve ever been to IKEA than you understand how awesome their buggies are but I felt like I was drifting around every corner. I was trying to exhibit my “drifting” to Cory. I don’t think he captured my amusement.
Satisfied with my first IKEA purchases (a down comforter and white toss pillows that I plan on getting covers for) and happy that we got out less than $100. We really didn’t need our buggie but I really wanted to ride the conveyor belt.
Since we were going to be in Atlanta, I wanted to go to Nordstrom because the whole point of the trip was to find a new comforter for our bedroom. I found one online I liked but really wanted to see what it felt like because I’m picky about the way fabrics feel and was scared I would get it and not like it. Well, the Nordstrom in Atlanta had the smallest home section I’ve ever seen. Maybe they are all that way but I was pretty disappointed. Even though we had a great time in IKEA and I did buy a new down comforter, I didn’t get a duvet cover.
This was a look/laughter of frustration after a long day and not finding what I was looking for plus their being too long of a wait at The Cheesecake Factory. Even if I didn’t find new bedding, I’ve got big plans for our office makeover and can’t wait to get started on that!

We’ve gone to IKEA just once together, and actually didn’t buy anything. I guess I’m not that big of a home decor/furnishing kind of gal, though maybe I should be better about that…

We loved it but I’m a huge home decor kind of gal. We will be making a trip back once we get measurements for our office.

I could spend hours in IKEA! THat place is crazy. Have you looked at Target for duvet covers? I got mine there a couple of years ago and it has held up really well! I have been super impressed with the quality. And yummm, love the cheesecake Factory! We stopped in there on Saturday night for dessert :)

I haven’t checked them recently but I will definitely check again. Thanks for the recommendation! If my husband wasn’t with me, I probably could have stayed twice as long as I did and I was pretty disappointed we didn’t get Cheesecake Factory. Next time we will make reservations!

It’s my new favorite but hate that it’s almost two hours away. They should help us out and build more!

Ugh! You’re so lucky! I wish we lived closer. I love Nordstrom online but was honestly shocked at out little they had in the store. Still looking for bedding but I’ll find something eventually :)

I love ikea too! I always say that you have to go there to find all the stuff you didn’t know you needed ;) Target is the same in that way…
Getting out for under $100 is an accomplishment though, congrats!
