Happy Tuesday, my friends! Today is a big day for the Sloans because after months of kitchen renovations, we are finally getting our countertops in. To say I’m excited would be a huge understatement. I’m so tired of washing dishes in the bathtub and it’s even worse now that we are cooking and have big pots and pans. After today, we will only have a few minor things left like installing molding and touching up paint before we are dunzo {with the kitchen, that is}! Here’s a little sneak peek fory’all! I haven’t even seen it in person yet but I just couldn’t wait to share it with you guys!
Fireplace Makeover
WE PAINTED OUR FIREPLACE! Turns out, painting brick, or the act of getting rid of ugly brick, is pretty addicting and after we painted the exterior of our house, I wanted to paint ALL. THE. BRICK. Because if you remember correctly, this is what our fireplace looked like.

Happy Friday to me! We leave in the morning for the annual SC Ride4Life– a 300-mile bicycle ride to the coast. While I can hardly count the next four days as vacation, it’s probably my favorite part of the summer. I’m pretty bummed my Dad couldn’t get off work to participate because of his new job but more worried about not having my Mama there to do rider support with me. I’ve got big shoes to fill, y’all. DIY Board and Batten Shutters
Happy Tuesday, my friends! I hope y’all had a great weekend. We got a lot done and we’re so close to finishing this kitchen reno. So, so close! It’s a good thing, too because we are running on fumes. As promised {shocking, I know} I’m sharing all the details on how we made our own board and batten shutters. Once we decided to paint our house, we knew that our old shutters weren’t going to make the cut.
