Oh, Christmas Tree!

Since it’s less than two weeks to Christmas, I figured I’d better get on the ball with sharing my decorations especially since my tree has been up for almost a month. Slacker, I know. I’ve searched for the perfect tree for three years now and have yet to find one. This was Cory’s moms tree and she gave it to us when she moved this past August. I’ve always loved it and jumped on the chance to get it when she offered it.

But than we got home from Asheville this past weekend and I noticed half of the bulbs were blown. Cory and I spent hours working on it and couldn’t get all the bulbs to come back on. Hours. My mom came by Tuesday night and had it fixed in five minutes.

I kid you not. Thank goodness for my Mama!

So if you notice some burned out bulbs in these pictures, they were taken before my mom came and saved the day and I was too lazy to retake them.

Ahem.

In case you couldn’t tell, I love penguins. I’ve collected them for years and I’m always on the search for more penguin decorations! I found those cute round ones at Pier 1 this year and they made my little heart happy.

I’ll be sharing the rest of our Christmas home soon so check back to see the rest!

Halloween Front Porch

I realize I don’t actually have a front porch {I wish I did} so this is more like my Halloween front steps. Porch or steps, I love the way it turned out for the second year in a row.

Halloween Front PorchBy the way, do you recycle your decorations? Some people like to get all new stuff every year but not I. When I find something I like, I add to it, not replace it.

I call this my first successful deco mesh wreath and you can read all about it here.

I made this topiary last year after seeing the idea on Pinterest. Of course. The original had “Boo” but we needed something with our house number on it and I already had the wooden numbers laying around. I had to take it apart and touch it up this season and I also replaced the bows. I’m loving the stripes on the ribbon!

Fall Home Tour

This past Sunday was the first official day of fall but can I tell you a secret? My house has been decorated for fall for a few weeks now.

I know, I know. I’m that person.

The person that enjoys Hobby Lobby putting Christmas decorations out in July. The person that will have my Christmas stuff up before Thanksgiving. What’s a girl to do when she doesn’t want to cut fall decorations short? She puts them up while it’s still 90 degrees outside.

Makes sense to me.

Since it is now socially acceptable, I thought I’d share some photos of my fall home tour!

These two  babies are over fall decorating but sure are looking cute.

Even though I call it a home tour, it’s mostly my living room with a few touches of fall in other rooms. I haven’t made it to the pumpkin patch yet but when I do, I will add some pumpkins throughout the house. I also have a pumpkin topiary that I made last year to add to the front steps. I had to take it apart and touch up the paint this year and I haven’t gotten it all back together yet.

Slacker, I know.

I haven’t gotten that good at editing photos yet {or taking them for that matter} and it has taken me forever to get this post ready. There are some spots in my house that I’m convinced you just can’t get a good picture in. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoyed my fall home tour!
