I know that Christmas has come and gone but we are still very much rocking our Christmas home and will be until after the New Year. Heck, we just finished our last Christmas celebration last night. Plus, I’ve been working on this post for like a solid week and just haven’t been able to get it together. So, I’m sharing my new and improved (not really! but maybe a little) buffalo plaid Christmas home with you guys!
If you’ve followed my blog for the past couple years, you probably already know how much I love Christmas and decorating my home for the holidays. There is just something so peaceful to me about having my home decked out with Christmas lights and all things festive. Throughout the years, my home has changed drastically (you can see what it’s looked like over the years here) and by last year, I was pretty tired of the decorations I had been using for the past 7 years or so.
Something that I’ve never shared here on the blog before is my outdoor Christmas home. I’m really not sure why I’ve never gotten around to it but every year, Cory and I semi-Griswold the outside of our home. As much as I love having the inside of my home decorated for Christmas, I really, really love having lights up on the outside. Maybe it’s because as a kid, we lived on a farm with no neighbors so my parents never decorated the outside of our house, or maybe it’s because seeing a house lit up really does remind me of the magic of Christmas.
I’m not one to go all out with Halloween decoration but it’s one of Cory’s favorite holidays and if it were up to him, our whole house would be decked out in spiders, skulls, and spooky stuff year-round. So when I came home from Target with a few decorations for a Halloween mantel, he was so excited! I was hesitant on it being too spooky and not cute/fun enough but have to say, I love how it turned out!
Since I’m a full-time working mom, I try to keep my holiday mantels simple and affordable and thanks to the Target Dollar Spot, I’ve been successful! You can see my Valentine’s Mantel here and like the good blogger I am, I didn’t even take pictures of my Easter/Spring mantel but it was there. There’s always next year, right?!
I’m gonna be real honest you guys: I’m surprising myself by getting my act together and actually blogging. It may not be much, but I really do enjoy this space of mine and have missed it tremendously the past few months years. Now that I’m not miserably pregnant and we are semi-getting the hang of parenthood, I have a little bit of free time that I’ve been trying to designate towards this blog. We’ll see what happens though!
