Welcome to the world, Carson!

You guys, I’m an aunt…again! On June 18th, Carson Wesley made his surprise appearance, almost three weeks early. And we are absolutely smitten!

Proud {and nervous} papa coming out to tell us he was here.

He’s a little guy weighing in at 6 lbs and 3 oz and was 19 inches long.

Pretty much the whole first day, he kept his face scrunched like this. He wasn’t crying. Just had a permanent old man face.

Tator finally getting to hold her baby brother.

Gracie’s face, y’all {the only reason I included this blurry picture}. She was SO excited.

Gracie doesn’t remember Taylor being a baby {they are only three years apart} and she’s eating up the fact that she actually gets to be an aunt to Carson.

Booboo and his first grandboy.

Don’t worry, I was sitting right beside her and I cropped my mom’s hand out. Don’t let that cute face fool you, she’s a wild child and we would not have trusted her 6 year old self to hold Little Man by herself.

Our little bean burrito.

I know baby boys aren’t supposed to be pretty but I just can’t help it, he’s gorgeous!

I can’t wait to spoil you and teach you all the things your mama used to do, little man! Just like your big sister, you’ve already got your Aunt Paige wrapped around your little fingers.

Welcome to this big, crazy family Carson!

Basic Training Graduation

Do you ever have those days that are just so good that you wish you could just freeze them in time and play them over and over again?

That’s exactly how last Wednesday and Thursday were for me. If you follow on Insta or Facebook, you probably already know that Cory and I were in Fort Jackson for basic training graduation.

Because both brothers were in basic training simultaneously {at two different bases, in two different states}, my family had to tag team the two-day event. So Cory and I drove down early Wednesday morning for Family Day with Jordan while my parents came down Wednesday night, attended Jordan’s ceremony Thursday morning, had lunch with us, and then had to catch a flight to Oklahoma for John’s graduation Friday morning.

But that’s not the part I want to freeze. We literally spent 10 hours straight for two days with Jordan and it was such a precious time to have. We debated not coming down for Family Day so we could save some of our days at work but I can’t believe that thought ever crossed my mind. We will never get this time back and I will remember these two days for a long, long time.

So what did we do that made it so special?

We started the morning off with a short Family Day ceremony where we were able to pick up our soldier!

Of course, we sat at the top of the bleachers to get a good view and didn’t realize we’d be the last ones on the field to find him. Talk about wanting to hurdle over the side. If I could’ve, I would’ve.

Basic Training7

Jordan couldn’t leave the base on Wednesday so we played some putt-putt and Jordan and Cory spent most of the time fishing their balls out of the water. I totally whooped their butts :)

We checked out the basic training museum. By the way, we had the most perfect weather on Thursday. It felt so good spending the majority of the day outside.

We found John’s doppelganger in a picture in the museum.

The museum walked us through the different stages of basic training from current day all the way back to WWI. It was really neat to see what the boys just went through.

Jordan was cracking up, telling us about the MREs and how it said it use a “rock or something”. I didn’t completely believe him until I saw this.

After the museum, we had dinner with his company, did a little shopping at the PX, and headed to the bowling alley for some good ‘ole air hockey before he had to be back at his barracks by 8:00pm. It was so, so strange hearing from my little brother that he needed to actually be back around 7:30pm to ensure he wasn’t late. #mindblown

Graduation came early Thursday morning–especially since we didn’t get into bed until almost midnight from the excitement of sharing the day with my parents.

But first…a family selfie.

While waiting in traffic to get out of the parking lot, two of Jordan’s friends walked by and when I saw my mom get out to snap a picture, I jumped out of our car to grab one too. You should have seen the look on these two guys’ faces when a strange girl started snapping pictures of them.

After lunch, my parents had to head to the airport, so we had Jordan for the rest of the day. We headed to the mall for a little while with my grandparents and then spent the rest of the day trying to occupy ourselves in Columbia. We were worried about traffic getting back on the base so we headed back early and grabbed dinner there. It worked out great because Jordan’s friend Alobaide was able to join us for dinner and driving tour around base :)

If nothing else, I’m pretty familiar with Fort Jackson now.

We said our “see you in 10 weeks” and I have to say, this goodbye was much easier than the last. It really helped knowing that Jordan was heading to Fort Sill and will be with John for AIT {they are roomates!}

I really hate we missed John’s graduation but sent him crazy selfies all day on Thursday so he could be a part of it too. I can’t wait to see the video of his ceremony! Words can express how proud I am of baby brothers!

Happy 50th Birthday, Dad!

Oh, Tuesday…we meet again. How is it the weekends just go by so fast?

I have a confession to make…I haven’t jogged since I posted that video last Wednesday. I woke up on Saturday morning {my next day to run} sick again. I had just finished a round of antibiotics from the sinus infection I had over Christmas break and felt good for all of three days and the same sinus junk is back again.

I’ve blown my nose approximately 739 times this weekend and still have so much snot in my head. TMI? Maybe. I just don’t even know how it’s possible to still have this much congestion!

But I’m not here to talk about sickness and snot.

I’m here to talk about my sweet Dad and wish him a happy 50th birthday!

50th Birthday Ideas

Technically, his birthday was yesterday but I was busy getting the house ready for a little birthday dinner.

While I had to resist the urge to go all out, I kept it simple with a banner and some black balloons, of course!

Hampton partied too hard.

I don’t say this nearly enough but I’m extremely blessed with two wonderful parents. My dad is the epitome of goodness and kindness. He is the wisest person I know and the first person Cory and I go to when making a big decision. He is dependable, passionate, and disciplined {he rides 300 miles on a bicycle every year!}. He would give you the shirt off his back, has a heart for missions and travel, but also has a strong desire to better our community. Most importantly, he is madly in love with Christ and his walk with the Lord is so inspiring. I’m continuously amazed at how much my dad has on his plate {owns a business, goes to school, church, Barnabas X, raises a family} and he does it all with grace.

I’m so very thankful that God chose him to be my father. Happy birthday to the first man that ever told me he loved me!

Mother’s Day Weekend {Recap}

After a busy few weeks at work, I was looking forward to have a weekend to relax at home but who am I kidding? The Sloan’s just don’t relax that often. Except Friday night. Friday night I relaxed crashed.

Saturday morning I skipped out on helping the band set up {again…oops} and met Jessica for pedicures. Its been what feels like weeks since I’ve seen her and catching up was so nice!

My mom asked me last week to go to a wedding with her so I came home and got ready. After the wedding, her best friend Kelly needed some help finishing decorating for her sons wedding on Sunday. The wedding was supposed to be outside but the weather was bad all weekend and they had to switch to plan B so mom and I headed to help her out. Kelly and I decided we should go into business together. She did such a fabulous job with the decor and I really do enjoy event planning.

When we were done, you really couldn’t tell it was a fellowship hall. I’m hoping the photographer got more pictures of all the details because they were all so lovely. When we finished up there, I headed home to meet Cory for a much needed date night.

Cory Sloan

My handsome hubs at Texas Roadhouse, a good steak and bake potato was exactly what I was craving! We had originally planned to go see a movie after dinner but once my belly was full I was so sleepy. We made a quick stop at Target and came on home. I literally walked in the door, changed into my pj’s and crawled into bed.

After church on Sunday, I texted mom to tell her I had a surprised for her and to meet me at my house at 2:45 and Cory would watch Gracie.

Mother's day

I grabbed a bite to eat while this face was staring at me. He really knows how to work those eyes. Don’t worry, he doesn’t get table food. His tummy can’t handle it.

Puppy eyes

Mom got to the house and asked where we were going but I didn’t tell her until we were turning in the parking lot that I had scheduled a 60 minute deep tissue massage for us both. She stays so busy that I thought she would enjoy a massage more than any gift I could get her. Plus, I could enjoy one too!

Don’t we look super relaxed??? They were glorious!

Mother's Day

While we were getting our massages, Cory took this wild child to the grocery store to get what we needed to grill hamburgers. Funny story, Gracie loves Ninja Turtles just like Cory. When mom brought her to the house, she was in a Ninja Turtle costume and when we got back from our massages, they still weren’t back from the grocery store. I asked mom if she brought Gracie a change of clothes or if Cory had to take her to the store in her costume. Turns out, she did have a change of clothes but Cory told her it wouldn’t bother him if she wanted to wear her Turtles costume.

My dad and brothers met us at the house to grill some hamburgers and celebrate how awesome of a mama we’ve got. Another not so funny story from this weekend…my brothers had been to the lake with some of there friends and while they were swimming someone stole their shirts, shoes and my brothers wallet {which is the not so funny part} but they didn’t plan to go home first so they showed up in their swimming trunks with no shoes or shirts. Don’t worry, we helped them out.

Mother's DayPlease excuse the editing on these photos. It was late last night when I did them and they always look worse on my computer than on my phone.

I really hoped everyone got to enjoy some time with their mamas {or babies} this weekend! I’m so grateful for my sweet mama and everything she does for me and I hope she felt extra special on her big day yesterday!
