Booking our Babymoon

Pretty much from the moment I found out I was pregnant, I started thinking about a babymoon for Cory and myself. While we have traveled to Rwanda, it’s been almost two years since we’ve taken an actual vacation. To say that I’m ready for some time away with my sweet boy would be an understatement. We need some time to unwind, relax and just enjoy each other before we welcome our sweet little girl into this world.

I started looking at places like the Bahamas and Mexico because I really had this idea in my head of having a luxury babymoon {think big pools, all the food you want, big comfy bed}. Normally, I would be 100% okay with a mom and pop hotel in a small beach town because all I’m gonna do is sit on the beach anyway, but I really wanted a treat since this would be our last hoorah without Hot Pie.

So I posted on Facebook asking for recommendations in Mexico when a few sweet friends of mine mentioned talking to my doctor about the Zika virus. I had heard a few things about it but had no idea how bad it had gotten and the threat it was to pregnant women and their unborn babies. I started to ask my doctor about it a few weeks later and before I even got the sentence out of my mouth, she already answered “No! Absolutely not!”

Back to the drawing board we went, searching for somewhere that was either a short flight or reasonable drive, an all-inclusive resort, and in our budget. Turns out, all-inclusive resorts in the US are few and far between and the ones we did find were way out of our budget. So, I had to give up on that idea and accept the fact that poolside pizzas were not gonna be in my near future {which honestly, isn’t a bad thing!}. But I really didn’t want to give up on the idea of going to a luxury resort. We searched a few smaller towns that had gorgeous beaches in Florida but I just couldn’t find the resort-style hotel I was looking for until my friend Tonya suggested…

I’ve been to a few beaches in the gulf {years ago} but neither Cory or myself have ever been to Pensacola and it’s only a 6 1/2 hour drive. Cory has a “rule” that he won’t drive anywhere over 5 hours but I refuse to spend money on airfare for a six-hour drive. Let’s save that money and book a spa day!

My only other stimulation while looking for a room was one with a balcony and a beach view, which we got! I just love sitting on a balcony early in the morning listening to the sound of the waves. Can it get any more relaxing than that??

Maybe it can…hammocks on the beach? Much like our honeymoon, I can’t wait to spend some time soaking up the sun in these hammocks!

We really don’t plan on doing much while we are down there, other than laying on the beach or floating around the pool, but is there anything else we absolutely must do while in Pensacola? What about the best restaurants? Give me all your suggestions, Florida friends!

T-minus 19 days and this mama will have her toes in some gorgeous white sand and I. can’t. wait. Now, I just need to find one more bathing suit that I feel comfortable in with this growing bump of mine. Happy Friday, y’all!
